Now lockdown restrictions are easing and the weather is looking good, a few hours spent discovering  beautiful new walking routes or a nice long bike ride is exactly what you need after months of being locked indoors.

Gone are the days of opening up a giant map and plotting a new walking route (and not being able to fold it back as neatly as you found it, and having to apologise to those who taught you to map read!). Things have changed.. technology has made it easy for us to discover amazing new walks and routes right beneath our noses – without the fear of getting stranded without signal.

Why not ditch the car or train and go on foot or pedal power instead?

Take a picnic and lose yourself in the countryside.

“Fresh Air helps you feel better”..

Fresh outdoor air actually improves brain function, especially if you’ve been cooped up in a stuffy office or the house for most of the day. They say for better work performance, take a walk outside during a break at the office, or potter about in the garden if you’re at home. Being outside maintains a healthy oxygen level in the brain.

“How are your stress levels?”..

Taking a walk outside helps the brain produce endorphines, which are responsible for regulating moods. Being outside and walking can create a positive change overall in the state of your mind. Therefore going outside and spending time in the countryside with nature reduces stress and lowers your heart rate creating positive changes to your state of mind.
